An Elegy

This is a real elegy. I loved it so much that I translated it to English and wanted to share it with you



O you who is lying on the river
Haven’t you heard her constant calls?
Who is going to protect Zainab ?

O Knight of Adnan, it’s been long
Since you’ve departed
Haven’t you sensed the thirst?
Or heard the infants’ weak groans?
When are you going to come back with the water?

He heard all her appeals
Alas, the arrow has gone penetrated his eye
He wanted to take it out
Alas, he forgot his chopped hands
“ What can I do ?" He answered
“ O my most respected sister"
“It’s so hard to hear your sad appeals”
“ You know what it is like "
